Choosing your celebrant is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning your wedding. Why? Because your celebrant is the person who sets the tone, tells your story and guides you through the legal side of marriage. It’s not just about finding someone to tick the boxes, it’s about finding the person who feels like the right fit for you.

So, how do you know if you’ve found the one (celebrant, that is)?

Do You Click With Them?

Your celebrant will be standing beside you in one of the most emotional and memorable moments of your life. You want to feel comfortable, supported and like they “get” you. After an initial chat, ask yourself: Did I feel at ease? Did they listen? Could I imagine them telling our story?

That’s exactly why I always start with a relaxed chat. No pressure, no awkward sales pitch. Just a chance to get to know each other and see if we click.

What’s Their Style?

Every celebrant has a different approach. Some are formal, others are fun and relaxed, some love a touch of humour, others prefer romantic and elegant. The key is finding someone whose style matches your vision for the day.

For me, my style is warm, relaxed and engaging. I love weaving your story in a way that feels natural and true to you. I avoid anything too stiff or corny, instead, I aim for a ceremony that has the right balance of laughter, heartfelt moments and genuine connection, whilst keeping in the traditional sentiment.

Ask about their process. Do they help with the legal paperwork? Do they provide resources? Do they feel like a safe pair of hands?
