You’re Engaged! Now What?
So, the question was popped, the answer was yes (obviously), and you’re both glowing in that just-engaged bubble, champagne toasts, happy tears, and maybe a few “OMG let me see the ring!” texts.
Now take a breath. Because this is where it gets exciting… and a little bit real. You’re about to plan your best. day. ever.
Here are some first steps to get you started, without the overwhelm:
Soak It In (Just a Bit Longer)
Before rushing into decisions, take a moment together. Talk about what kind of celebration feels right. Big party or intimate gathering? Surrounded by vineyards in the hills or sunset and barefoot by the beach? Start with the feeling you want the day to have.
Set Your Budget
Not the most romantic part, but it’s your best friend from now on. Think about what you're comfortable spending and where your priorities lie (food, photography, outfits, etc.). This helps guide every decision that follows.
Pick a Time of Year
Start broad. Spring or autumn? A particular anniversary month? Once you land on a season, you can start checking availability with venues and vendors.
Create a Guest List Draft
This gives you a ballpark number, which helps with venue options and budget planning. It doesn't have to be final, just a starting point.
Secure Your Venue
This one’s a biggie, and it usually sets your date in stone. Your venue shapes the whole vibe and flow of your day, so it’s one of the first boxes to tick. Once you’ve chosen the space that feels right (whether that’s a winery, a garden, or your family property), you can start confirming your dream team and building the celebration around it.
Book Your Celebrant (that’s me!)
Once your venue is locked in, I can officially save your date! As your celebrant, I’m here to bring the heart to your day, guiding you through the legal side and crafting a ceremony that feels warm, relaxed, and unmistakably you two.
Depending on your ceremony style, you’ll receive either the full Love and Confetti Guide plus Love and Confetti Planner, a one-stop tracker for your guest list, budget, and vendor bookings. or the Love and Confetti Quick Guide for short and sweet ceremonies. Both are designed to make the process easy, thoughtful, and completely tailored to your vibe. Inside, you’ll find my trusted Friends of Jen supplier list to help simplify your search and connect you with people I know and love working with.
